Mark Twain was an American author and humorist. His real name is Samuel Langhorne Clemens, but he is more known for his pen name, Mark Twain. Being a gifted raconteur, distinctive humorist, and irascible moralist, he became a popular influence and one of America’s best and most beloved writers.
People are greatly impacted by his famous books; "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and its sequel; "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". As a child, Twain was always involved with mischief, and always got into trouble, in which he relates to Tom in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". Mark's father died before he was 13, and because of this, he had to work as a printer's apprentice for Joseph P Ament's Missouri Courier. By that time, his childhood practically had gone away. In his old age, he began to become frustrated and depressed of what people thought of him, and the name Mark Twain had become nothing but a curse for Samuel Clemens. Twain still had impacted many people, however. Twenty-five years after his death, Ernest Hemingway said "All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn.”
Twain's career started going down when he published his last novel; "Puddn'head Wilson" which was also when he started going bankrupt. His publishing company did not decide to publish his book because of his money shortage. Then, he took a worldwide lecture tour to pay his creditors back. During that tour, when he was giving a lecture in Europe, his 24-year-old daughter Susy Clemens died. Following that, his wife, Livy Clemens died after severe two-year illnesses. Even after that his youngest daughter, Jean Clemens died, which depressed Twain so much that he stopped writing books and giving lectures. Finally, Mark died 74 years old at his house in Redding, Connecticut.
